About the Program:
Purpose of the Job
Perform all maintenance and repair work on commercial vehicles in accordance with Value Logistics job cards, ensuring vehicles are serviced safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections and onboard diagnostics during pre-diagnosis.
- Review workshop job cards for accuracy and full understanding.
- Adhere to flat rates and repair standards.
- Attend to both office hour and after-hour breakdowns.
- Sign off job cards upon completion.
- Ensure all parts used, including engine oils, are correctly booked to the job card.
- Prepare equipment and parts required for service work.
- Perform maintenance services according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules.
- Conduct visual inspections, calibrations, adjustments, and other required checks.
- Identify irregularities, wear, or deviations and report them to the Workshop Foreman.
- Reset maintenance systems following internal procedures.
- Inspect dismantled parts and replace with new or reconditioned components.
- Return old or unusable parts and document all work performed.
- Compare vehicles against production standards to assess technical condition.
- Perform final checks using testing and measuring equipment to ensure vehicles are fully repaired, roadworthy, and reliable.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Assist with relevant operational functions as required.
- Follow company dress code and maintain daily housekeeping standards.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Trade-tested commercial vehicle Diesel Technician
Skills Required
- Ability to apply appropriate techniques and strategies to maintain a professional work area.
- Ability to interpret customer usage patterns and identify vehicle issues.
- Knowledge of business principles as they apply to own work environment.
- Capable of interacting with customers regarding own work area.
- Ability to identify hazards and follow Health and Safety instructions.
- Competence in applying basic Health and Safety procedures under supervision.
