About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier to join their retail team. The role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and maintaining secure cash handling procedures in line with company standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Sound numerical skills
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all customer service policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
  • Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to management
  • Maintain required customer transaction turnaround times
  • Stay informed about current promotions and sales
  • Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
  • Apply company communication standards at all times
  • Manage and control cash flow responsibly
  • Ensure all voids and price changes are authorised by a supervisor
  • Process exchanges and returns in line with company procedures
  • Accurately process all forms of payments including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
  • Handle loyalty programmes and partner rewards transactions
  • Secure cash in drop safe according to standard procedures
  • Safeguard personal login credentials and ensure secure system access
  • Ensure all items are correctly scanned and paid for before leaving the store
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling daily takings
  • Identify and report any suspicious behaviour
  • Assist customers with product-related queries
  • Comply with all security policies and procedures
