Job Description

As a Counter Sales professional, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing expert assistance to customers regarding product inquiries and facilitating their purchases.
• Processing sales transactions with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintaining a consistently clean and organized sales counter area and showroom.
• Monitoring stock levels and promptly restocking merchandise to ensure availability.
• Accurately processing customer order requests and completed sales.
• Handling customer payments and managing related banking processes reliably.
• Delivering prompt and dependable customer service.
• Offering sound advice to customers on appropriate products.
• Assisting customers with any product-related queries and resolving complaints in a timely manner.
• Demonstrating product knowledge across all Cashbuild offerings.
• Assisting in other departments as operational needs dictate.
• Ensuring stock is efficiently packed away into allocated bins and merchandised immediately upon receipt.
• Maintaining a presentable sales counter, free from clutter.
• Adhering to all safety regulations (OHSA), including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and employees.
• Merchandising stock safely to protect both customers and staff.
• Observing and reporting any suspicious behaviour or individuals to management.
• Ensuring no product is loaded for a customer without valid proof of purchase or necessary documentation.

Requirements

To be successful in this Counter Sales role, you will need:

• A Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
• A minimum of 1 year of sales experience, preferably within a hardware retail, wholesale, or similar environment.
• 1 year of carpentry experience would be a significant advantage.
• A strong ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The capacity to perform effectively under pressure.
