System Supervisor – Cashbuild

Cashbuild is seeking a diligent and experienced System Supervisor to join our team in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, South Africa. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, and managing all Cash Office and banking operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service Excellence: Manage and supervise all Point of Sale (POS) transactions to ensure total customer satisfaction. Assist customers with their needs, queries, and complaints, resolving issues promptly or escalating them as required. Offer fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers.
  • Cash Handling and Banking: Maintain accurate control over store floats, including petty cash, till floats, and change floats. Manage change ordering and dispensing. Balance and record petty cash expenses and vouchers accurately in the Petty Cash Ledger. Process back-office transactions and cash up cashiers and the back-office till, handling bulk deposits, special deposits, charge cards, loyalty cards, and returns. Ensure all returns are valid and processed correctly. Action cash clearance and resolve any related queries. Ensure timely pick-ups are conducted.
  • POS Operations: Execute end-of-day sessions on all Point of Sale (POS) terminals. Conduct daily cash-ups for all POS terminals, including the back-office terminal. Ensure that a second Cashbuild designated employee is present during Cash in Transit (CIT) money collections and that daily takings are collected by the CIT Company.
  • Operational Efficiency: Control and ensure the availability of stationery and consumables within the store. Implement “Ready for Business” processes, ensuring cashiers maintain their designated areas. Keep the Cash Office neat and tidy at all times, filing all relevant documentation up to date.
  • Team Supervision: Ensure all cashiers are present and available to assist customers and perform their duties. Confirm that cashiers have trained backup available and execute their daily responsibilities according to checklists. Schedule subordinates on time and take responsibility for product knowledge training for cashiers as agreed with the Store Manager. Schedule and supervise all POS employees, managing leave, time off, and days off. Monitor and evaluate the performance of subordinates and ensure cashiers comply with the company dress code.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure adherence to safety standards. Maintain awareness of suspicious individuals or activities within and outside the store. Uphold password security protocols. Ensure the Cash Office is secured at all times, particularly during pick-ups, cash-ups, and CIT collections. Ensure till pick-ups are conducted within set parameters. Prevent unauthorized persons from entering the Cash Office and ensure safe keys are locked away securely. Prohibit the storage of rations, stock, or unrelated documentation within the Cash Office.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification plus 5 years of related experience, or a minimum of 10 years of work-related experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area of the position.
  • Above-average numeric skills.
  • Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Previous cashier experience is essential.
