Job Opportunity: Edge Bander & Pothole Operator in Polokwane
Cashbuild is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Edge Bander & Pothole Operator to join our team in Polokwane. This role is crucial in ensuring that all customer estimations are accurately edged and drilled according to strict timelines, specifications, and company standards, thereby minimizing losses and maintaining operational efficiency. You will also be responsible for the upkeep of machinery to prevent breakdowns due to negligence.

Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Provide prompt and reliable customer service, offering accurate product advice and timely assistance with product queries and complaints. You must be available within your area of responsibility and willing to assist in other departments as needed.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring areas are free of obstacles, stock is merchandised promptly, and entry/exit points are clear. Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet schedules, and assist with stock allocation.
- Safety (OHSA) Compliance: Strictly adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and employees within your designated area. Comply with machinery specifications and safety standards, and merchandise stock safely.
- Loss Prevention and Security: Remain vigilant for suspicious behaviour and report any concerns to management. Ensure all product loading is accompanied by proof of purchase or necessary documentation. Cutting, edging, or drilling of products must only occur with a valid order/invoice.
- Cutting and Edging Operations: Minimize wastage and customer complaints by accurately calibrating machinery according to cutting lists and interpreting cutting lists precisely. Perform daily cleaning and preventative maintenance on all machinery.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years of carpentry experience is advantageous.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working with cutting, edging, and drilling machinery is advantageous.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure.
