Value Logistics Vacancies – Tyre & Mechanical Assistant
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant is responsible for supporting mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, tyre maintenance, and roadside breakdown assistance. The role also ensures proper vehicle cleaning before release from the depot while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
Tyre Maintenance Duties
- Strip and fit tyres as required
- Maintain correct tyre pressures on all vehicles
- Conduct tyre surveys and report findings
- Replace smooth or damaged tyres promptly
- Complete tyre change documentation accurately
- Ensure all wheel nuts are properly torqued
- Maintain and manage tyre stock levels
- Clean and maintain tyre bay tools and equipment
- Attend roadside breakdowns involving tyre or mechanical issues
Workshop Assistance
- Assist with mechanical repairs, servicing, and general vehicle maintenance
- Support all workshop operations as required
- Complete job cards, service schedules, and parts listings accurately
- Assist with control and organisation of spare parts and tyre inventory
- Maintain cleanliness in workshop, parts area, tyre store, and wash bay
- Support operational tasks as directed by supervisors
Washbay and Vehicle Cleaning
- Ensure all vehicles are thoroughly washed and cleaned before leaving the depot
- Maintain a clean and organized washbay area
- Follow company procedures for vehicle presentation standards
Health, Safety and Housekeeping
- Follow all Health and Safety procedures at all times
- Identify and report hazards immediately under supervision
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across all work areas
- Ensure compliance with company dress code and Standard Operating Procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Experience in mechanical and tyre-related work
Skills and Competencies
- Basic understanding of Health and Safety procedures under supervision
- Ability to identify hazards and follow instructions accurately
- Strong teamwork and willingness to assist across workshop functions
- Good physical ability to perform manual tasks
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards
