About the Role:
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant supports mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, and tyre maintenance. This role includes conducting tyre surveys with corrective actions, attending roadside breakdowns, and ensuring vehicles are clean and ready for operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Tyre Duties
- Strip, fit, and maintain tyres
- Ensure correct tyre pressures and torque wheel nuts
- Conduct tyre surveys and replace smooth or damaged tyres
- Complete tyre change slips accurately
- Maintain tyre stock and clean tyre bay tools
- Attend site breakdowns, including mechanical and tyre-related issues
Workshop Assistance
- Assist with mechanical repairs, vehicle servicing, and breakdown maintenance
- Support all workshop functions as required
- Complete job card service schedules and parts listings
- Help control spare parts and tyre inventory
- Maintain workshop, parts store, and tyre bay housekeeping standards
Washbay Duties
- Ensure vehicles are washed and cleaned before leaving the depot
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of washbay areas
- Adhere to company dress code and Standard Operating Procedures
- Follow Health and Safety standards at all times
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Mechanical and tyre experience
Skills Required:
- Basic understanding of Health and Safety procedures relevant to own work
- Ability to identify hazards and follow instructions to address them
