General Assistant – Cashbuild

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated General Assistant to join our team in Cape Town. This role is crucial in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers through excellent service, efficient stock management, and maintaining store presentation standards. Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Provide comprehensive customer service within the store.
  • Advise and assist customers with product selection and address their queries.
  • Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints.

Merchandising and Housekeeping:

  • Ensure stock is merchandised safely and according to store layout plans in both bulk and shelf areas.
  • Maintain designated areas of responsibility, ensuring they are fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms.
  • Keep all aisles clear of obstacles, ensuring stock is merchandised promptly after receipt.
  • Maintain correct shelf price labelling within your area.
  • Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules when on duty.

Safety and Stock Management:

  • Adhere to all Safety (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
  • Ensure the safe merchandising of stock in racking and bulk areas, allowing for safe movement of customers and colleagues within the store.
  • Report any discrepancies or damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR a Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Cape Town area.
  • Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
