Role Description
As a General Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring a positive and efficient in-store experience for our customers. Your responsibilities will include maintaining high standards of customer service, effectively merchandising stock, ensuring accurate shelf price labelling, and upholding excellent housekeeping within your designated area.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
- A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively in both English and the dominant local language spoken in the Mount Frere area.
- Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- A willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- The capacity to work effectively under pressure.
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service:
- Provide expert advice and assistance to customers regarding products and their queries.
- Effectively address and resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
Merchandising Standards:
- Organise and merchandise bulk stock safely and in accordance with the store’s layout plan.
- Ensure your designated area is fully merchandised, adhering to store layout and planograms.
Housekeeping:
- Maintain a clean and obstacle-free work area.
- Ensure stock is merchandised promptly after receipt and that aisles are safe for customer movement.
- Implement correct shelf price labelling within your area of responsibility.
- Complete required checklists, including the Canteen and Toilet/Showers schedules when on duty.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements:
- Adhere to all Safety (OHSA) compliance requirements, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff within your area.
- Ensure that stock, both on racking and in bulk, is merchandised in a manner that allows customers and colleagues to move safely throughout the store.
- Report any safety discrepancies or concerns to the Store Manager immediately.
Manage Stock Loss:
- Report any damaged stock identified within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
