Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated General Assistant to join our team in Komani, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Key Responsibilities
As a General Assistant, your primary focus will be on ensuring a positive customer experience and upholding the operational standards of the store. This includes:
- Customer Service Excellence: Providing comprehensive customer service, advising and assisting shoppers with product selection and queries. You will also be instrumental in resolving customer complaints effectively and professionally.
- Merchandising and Stock Management: Ensuring stock is correctly merchandised in designated areas, adhering to store layout plans and planograms. This also involves accurate shelf price labelling and managing bulk stock areas safely.
- Store Presentation and Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This means ensuring aisles are free of obstacles, stock is merchandised promptly after receipt, and customers can navigate the store safely. You will also be responsible for completing required checklists and maintaining schedules for areas like the canteen and toilets/showers.
- Safety Compliance: Adhering to all Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of both customers and colleagues within your area of responsibility.
- Stock Loss Management: Reporting any damaged stock or discrepancies to the Store Manager promptly.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this General Assistant role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
- A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
- Proficiency in communicating effectively in English and the dominant local language of the Komani area.
- Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
- The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The capacity to work effectively under pressure.
