General Assistant – Cashbuild

Cashbuild is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a General Assistant in Komani, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Key Responsibilities

As a General Assistant, your primary duties will include:

• Customer Service: Providing comprehensive customer service within the store, assisting customers with product inquiries, and effectively resolving complaints.
• Merchandising Standards: Ensuring all stock is merchandised safely and according to store layout plans and planograms. This includes maintaining the bulk stock area and your designated area of responsibility.
• Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean and organized environment. This involves ensuring your area is free of obstacles, stock is merchandised promptly after receipt, and aisles are safe for customers. Correct shelf price labelling is also a key responsibility. You will also be required to complete relevant checklists, including schedules for the canteen and toilet/shower areas when on duty.
• Safety (OHSA) Requirements: Adhering to all safety regulations, including the proper use of safety gear. Ensuring the safety of both customers and staff within your area of responsibility is paramount. This includes ensuring stock is merchandised safely on racking and in bulk areas to allow colleagues and customers to move freely and safely within the store. Any discrepancies should be reported to the Store Manager.
• Stock Loss Management: Reporting any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
• A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the dominant local language spoken in Komani.
• A valid South African ID or work permit.
• The ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The capacity to work effectively under pressure.
