Cashbuild is seeking a diligent and customer-focused individual to join our team as a General Assistant in Mount Frere. This role is crucial for ensuring an exceptional in-store experience for our customers.
Job Description
As a General Assistant, your primary responsibilities will encompass providing comprehensive customer service, maintaining high merchandising standards, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. You will be instrumental in assisting customers with product selection and queries, resolving complaints, and ensuring that stock is displayed effectively and according to planograms. Maintaining the tidiness of your designated sales area, ensuring accurate shelf pricing, and adhering to safety regulations (OHSA) are also key components of this role. You will be expected to report any stock discrepancies or damaged goods to the Store Manager promptly.
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service:
- Offer expert advice and assistance to customers regarding products and their needs.
- Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
Merchandising Standards:
- Ensure bulk stock areas are organized safely and in line with the store’s layout plan.
- Maintain fully merchandised areas according to store layout and planograms.
Housekeeping:
- Keep your assigned area free of obstructions, ensuring immediate merchandising of received stock.
- Guarantee clear and safe customer access to aisles.
- Maintain accurate shelf price labelling within your area of responsibility.
- Complete required checklists, including Canteen and Toilet/Shower schedules.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements:
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff.
- Ensure that stock in racking and bulk areas is merchandised safely, allowing for secure movement of customers and colleagues within the store.
- Report any safety concerns or discrepancies to the Store Manager.
Stock Management:
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements
To be considered for this General Assistant position, you will need:
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF 3 with at least one (1) year of relevant work experience; OR
- A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and the primary language spoken in the Mount Frere geographical area.
- A valid South African ID or work permit.
- The ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- The capacity to work effectively under pressure.
