Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team in KwaDesi, Eastern Cape. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring customer satisfaction and safeguarding company assets. Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
- Accurately manage all assigned cash floats and petty cash, ensuring balances are maintained without shortages or overages.
- Precisely identify and capture goods on the Point of Sale (POS) terminal.
- Record correct payment types from customers accurately on the POS terminal.
- Maintain sufficient change levels at all times.
- Execute pick-up procedures accurately and within defined parameters.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
- Ensure all daily takings are securely dropped into the designated safe or vault.
- Process transactions related to other store monies, deliveries, and quotes correctly.
Administration
- Sign, compile, and meticulously file all documentation relevant to the Cashier function.
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for further assistance.
- Adhere strictly to the company’s dress code policy.
Safety and Security
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, including maintaining a safe environment for customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
- Report any discrepancies or safety concerns promptly to the Store Manager.
- Maintain strict adherence to system password controls at the till point.
- Safeguard cash and ensure its transport to the cash office according to Cashbuild Way requirements.
General Duties
- Uphold “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” standards as per the CB Way.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in communicating in English and the dominant local language of the KwaDesi area.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administration skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
