Store Manager

Cashbuild is seeking a driven and experienced Store Manager to lead our team in Steelpoort, South Africa. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned retail professional to protect and grow profitable market share within a store, aligning with the Store, Division, and Company’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive strategic plan for the Store, ensuring alignment with overall Divisional strategy and initiatives.

Grow and Protect Market Share

  • Drive growth in transactions, sales, and market share within the store as per budget.
  • Achieve sales budgets and growth objectives consistently.
  • Manage and promote customer loyalty programmes and third-party credit facilities.
  • Develop proactive action plans to protect market share against competitor entry.
  • Ensure Store Business plans are implemented and updated as required.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of the Customer Service strategy within the store.
  • Ensure an effective Delivery Service is maintained in line with company policy.
  • Grow and maintain the VIC and charge card client base.
  • Recommend range improvements to better suit market needs.

Asset Control

  • Manage and control shrinkage within the Store according to policy.
  • Protect all company assets, including cash, stock, and fixed assets.
  • Effectively manage debtors within the Store.
  • Analyze security requirements and recommend necessary changes.
  • Ensure physical security measures are implemented and maintained.

Business Trade Licenses

  • Ensure all relevant Trade Licenses are up-to-date and renewed in a timely manner, where applicable.

Human Resource Management

  • Manage manpower requirements in alignment with Company and Division strategy.
  • Ensure Succession Planning and Career Pathing are in place within the store.
  • Foster open communication and strong relations with the Store Employee Forum and all staff.
  • Oversee training and development initiatives for the store team.
  • Manage Employee Relations effectively within the store.

Maintaining Store Standards

  • Conduct daily floor walks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Ensure the implementation of agreed Action Plans (PIPs) where necessary.
  • Monitor adherence to Company standard compliance across all store operations.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the store.
  • Ensure merchandising policies and standards are strictly adhered to.
  • Implement “ready for business” principles within the stores.
  • Ensure lighting, store fixtures, and racking are maintained in excellent condition.

Stock Management

  • Ensure stock is ordered and received in accordance with company policy.
  • Manage the clearance of damaged stock as per policy.
  • Implement action plans for obsolete/deranged stock as per policy.
  • Manage slow-moving stock effectively according to policy.
  • Implement action plans for excess stock as per policy.

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards

  • Manage all safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighbouring country legislation.
  • Ensure all required checklists are completed diligently.
  • Ensure the appointment of all OHSA representatives for the store as per OHSA Act or relevant country legislation.
  • Investigate, report, and manage all OHSA Incidents.

Expense Management

  • Manage the Store to achieve the Financial Model and benchmarks.
  • Maintain expenses in line with budget within the store.

Insurance Claims Administration

  • Report all incidents to the relevant insurer promptly.
  • Liaise with the relevant insurer regarding claim particulars and validity.
  • Submit all necessary documentation to the relevant insurer.

Management of CB Way

  • Implement and maintain controls and disciplines in accordance with the CB Way.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 qualification is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related retail management experience, or 5 years of related retail management experience is required.
  • Must possess well-developed business acumen.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literate with basic computer skills.
  • Strong leadership skills are crucial.
  • Possess strong administrative skills.
  • Own transport and a valid driver’s license are preferable.
  • Must have their own cell phone.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighbouring countries’ legislation.
  • Strong Human Resources Management skills are essential.
  • A keen attention to detail.
