About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled First Officer to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations while delivering exceptional service. The role involves assisting the Captain, managing all aspects of flight operations, and maintaining regulatory and company standards across all stages of flight.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Ensure the safety of all flights in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor flight path, systems, and aircraft performance
  • Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers
  • Navigate and operate the aircraft in compliance with regulations and company procedures
  • Uphold FlySafair’s core competitive edge, including excellent customer service
  • Complete all legal and administrative documentation accurately
  • Assume command of the aircraft in the event of Captain incapacitation
  • Stay updated with SACAA, ICAO, and company Operations Manual requirements
  • Assist the Captain with operational and administrative duties, crew discipline, and behaviour

Pre-Flight:

  • Review flight route, briefing sheets, and forecasted conditions at destination and alternate aerodromes
  • Collaborate with the Captain on fuel planning, alternates, and operational restrictions
  • Complete all pre-flight checks and documentation as per the Operations Manual

In-Flight:

  • Execute and monitor normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists according to SOPs
  • Cross-check flight instruments, speed, altitude, heading, and alert the Captain to deviations or hazards
  • Conduct R/T communications as required
  • Provide advice and support to the Captain for safe and efficient flight conduct

Post-Flight:

  • Complete all post-flight procedures and required reports
  • Submit relevant documentation including IQSMS reports

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • SACAA Commercial Pilot License (essential)
  • SACAA ATPL (preferred)
  • Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (essential)
  • Type rating on Boeing aircraft (advantageous)
  • Experience on commercial jets over 20 tons (advantageous)
  • Non-type rated or Boeing type rated with minimum 1500 hours, including 500 hours multi-turbine time (essential)
  • Multi-crew experience (essential)
  • No existing medical conditions, criminal record, or drug/alcohol concerns
  • Willing to sign applicable training bond(s)
  • Own transport and RSA driver’s license
  • SA citizen with valid ID and passport
  • Willing to work irregular hours on rostered schedules
  • Detailed knowledge of SACAA, ICAO regulations, Doc 8186, and airline transport licensing content
