Job Overview

A talented and experienced Functions Chef is required to plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality cuisine for a variety of events, including banquets, corporate functions, and private gatherings. The successful candidate will ensure exceptional standards in taste, presentation, and hygiene while working closely with event coordinators, kitchen staff, and service teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Culinary qualification (Diploma or Certificate in Professional Cookery or equivalent)
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a chef in banqueting, catering, or event environments
  • Proven experience in high-volume food production

Key Responsibilities

Event Food Preparation & Execution

  • Plan and prepare menus for events such as weddings, corporate functions, and private parties
  • Execute food production according to event schedules and client specifications
  • Maintain consistency in quality, taste, and presentation across all dishes

Menu Planning & Customization

  • Collaborate with clients and event coordinators to create customized menus
  • Accommodate dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, and allergy considerations
  • Cost menus effectively to align with budget requirements

Kitchen Management

  • Oversee kitchen operations during events and functions
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including preparation teams and assistants
  • Ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of meals

Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Monitor proper food storage and handling procedures

Stock & Cost Control

  • Manage inventory and order supplies as required
  • Minimize waste and control food costs
  • Operate within budget constraints while maintaining quality standards

Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless event service
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown when necessary
