The Relationship Executive SME Agri Sales plays a key role in driving growth within the small business and agricultural banking segment. This position focuses on acquiring new clients, expanding existing relationships, and delivering tailored financial solutions that support the growth of SME and agribusiness customers.
As a Relationship Executive SME Agri Sales, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of key clients within the agricultural and small business sector, ensuring that their banking needs are met through effective relationship management, product cross-selling, and strategic financial guidance. The role is central to supporting economic development within the SME and agricultural value chain.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Relationship Executive SME Agri Sales is to optimise the profitability and economic value of a portfolio of SME and agricultural clients. This is achieved through proactive client acquisition, relationship deepening, and delivery of customised banking solutions that align with client needs and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management
- Own and manage primary relationships with SME and agricultural clients
- Serve as the main point of contact for all client banking needs
- Build long-term relationships based on trust, service excellence, and value creation
- Ensure consistent communication and engagement with clients across the portfolio
- Understand client business models, especially within the agricultural sector
Sales and Business Development
- Drive acquisition of new SME and agricultural clients to grow the portfolio
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across banking products and services
- Increase wallet share by deepening relationships with existing clients
- Develop tailored financial solutions that meet client business needs
- Achieve sales targets aligned with SME and agricultural segment objectives
Client Solutioning and Service Delivery
- Coordinate end-to-end service delivery for clients across multiple banking functions
- Set clear engagement rules with internal teams including credit, transactional banking, and product specialists
- Ensure seamless execution of client requests and financial solutions
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver integrated banking solutions

Risk and Credit Management
- Take ownership of risk management across the client portfolio
- Assess and monitor client creditworthiness and financial performance
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements
- Identify and escalate potential risks within the portfolio in a timely manner
- Maintain a strong understanding of both client and bank risk environments
Portfolio Growth and Performance
- Manage portfolio profitability through effective pricing, product usage, and risk control
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify growth opportunities
- Ensure sustainable balance between risk and return across all client relationships
- Support strategic initiatives aimed at growing SME and agricultural banking segments
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with credit analysts, transactional bankers, product teams, and support units
- Coordinate internal resources to deliver comprehensive client solutions

Market and Industry Understanding

Required Experience and Skills
- Strong background in SME banking, agricultural finance, or commercial lending
- Proven experience in relationship management and sales within financial services
- Knowledge of credit assessment, financial analysis, and risk management
- Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and SME business models
- Ability to structure and deliver financial solutions to business clients
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or related field
- Professional qualifications in banking or financial services will be an advantage
