General Assistant

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused General Assistant to join our team in Jozini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. This role is crucial in ensuring a positive in-store experience for our customers, maintaining high standards of product presentation, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the store.

Key Responsibilities

As a General Assistant, your primary duties will include:

• Customer Service: Providing comprehensive customer service, advising and assisting shoppers with product inquiries, and effectively resolving any customer complaints.
• Merchandising Standards: Ensuring all stock, both in bulk storage and on shelves, is merchandised safely and in accordance with store layout plans and planograms. This includes accurate shelf price labelling within your designated area.
• Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean, organised, and obstruction-free store environment. This involves promptly merchandising received stock and ensuring customer aisles are safe and easily accessible. You will also be responsible for completing required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules.
• Safety (OHSA) Compliance: Adhering to all Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, including the proper use of safety gear. You will ensure the safety of both customers and colleagues within your area of responsibility and report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
• Stock Management: Reporting any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager and actively contributing to managing stock loss.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this General Assistant role, you will need:

• A minimum of Grade 10 (NQF 3) and one year of relevant work experience, OR a Grade 12 qualification with no prior work experience.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in Jozini.
• A valid South African ID or work permit.
• Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The ability to perform effectively under pressure.
