We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at Cashbuild in Jozini. This role is pivotal in contributing to the protection and growth of profitable market share within the store, aligning with our overarching company strategy. Key Responsibilities

This role involves a broad range of duties focused on store operations, customer service, asset control, and team development. You will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure all aspects of the store function efficiently and profitably.

Strategic Management

  • Assist the Store Manager in developing, implementing, and managing a Store Business Plan that aligns with the Company’s overall strategy and initiatives.

Market Share Growth and Protection

  • Support the Store Manager in achieving market share growth targets for the store.
  • Contribute to meeting sales budgets and growth objectives by category.
  • Promote customer loyalty programs such as VIC and charge cards.
  • Manage the distribution of advertising materials for maximum impact.
  • Develop proactive action plans to protect market share when competitors enter the trading area.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring the store’s customer service strategy.
  • Contribute to maintaining customer audit scores above 95%.
  • Ensure a reliable and prompt customer delivery service.
  • Support efforts to grow and maintain the VIC client base.
  • Help achieve transaction budget goals.
  • Recommend range improvements to better suit market needs.
  • Implement action plans based on customer survey feedback.

Asset Control: Stock

  • Support the Store Manager in managing and controlling store shrinkage.
  • Assist in the management of the PIC process and Wall-to-wall stock takes.
  • Oversee stock movement within the store, including End Control, IBT’s, Customer Returns, and Receiving.
  • Analyze security requirements and implement necessary changes.
  • Manage and maintain physical security measures.

Asset Control: Cash

  • Assist the Store Manager in managing debtors and RD cheques.
  • Oversee petty cash management.
  • Support daily banking procedures.
  • Manage shorts and overs.
  • Handle the processing of cheques and credit cards.

Asset Control: Fixed Assets

  • Contribute to the maintenance and protection of racking, displays, and signage (internal & external).
  • Ensure the upkeep of forklifts and generators.
  • Maintain and protect IT equipment and telephone systems.
  • Oversee the maintenance and security of the store safe.

Human Resource Management

  • Assist in recruiting and inducting new employees.
  • Ensure that training and development programs are in place for the store team.
  • Support succession planning and career pathing initiatives.
  • Manage manpower requirements in line with divisional and store strategies.
  • Facilitate open communication and employee relations through CARE meetings and CB Mail with the Store Employee Committee.
  • Manage employee relations effectively.

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards

  • Ensure safety aspects are managed in line with local legislation (OHSA) and neighbouring countries where applicable.
  • Verify the completion of safety checklists.
  • Appoint Safety Representatives as per the OHSA Act.
  • Report all incidents and ensure they are accurately recorded.

Store Trading Standards

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within the store.
  • Manage merchandising standards effectively.
  • Implement and adhere to correct Planograms.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of yard and parking areas.

Profitability

  • Assist the Store Manager in achieving the operating income budget.
  • Manage the store in accordance with the Financial Model, benchmarks, and budgets.

CB Way Compliance

  • Achieve audit benchmarks by monitoring adherence to Company standard compliance within the store.
  • Implement and maintain necessary controls and disciplines.
  • Develop and implement Corrective Action Plans where required.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of two years of retail management experience.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A valid ID or valid work permit (local).
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literacy (basic).
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Own reliable transport and a cell phone.
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighbouring Countries legislation.
  • Strong Human Resources skills.
