General Assistant – Cashbuild – Jozini, KwaZulu-Natal
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused General Assistant to join the Cashbuild team in Jozini, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is crucial in ensuring a positive in-store experience for our customers through excellent service, meticulous merchandising, and maintaining high standards of store presentation and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide comprehensive customer service, advising and assisting customers with product selection and queries.
- Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints.
Merchandising Standards
- Ensure bulk stock areas are merchandised safely and according to the store layout plan.
- Maintain your designated area of responsibility, ensuring it is fully merchandised in line with store layout and planograms.
- Apply correct shelf price labelling within your area.
Housekeeping
- Ensure your area is free of obstructions, with stock merchandised promptly upon receipt.
- Guarantee customers can navigate aisles safely and comfortably.
- Complete required checklists, including Canteen and Toilet/Showers schedules, when on duty.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Adhere to OHSA compliance, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff within your area.
- Ensure stock in racking and bulk areas is merchandised safely, allowing customers and colleagues to move freely within the store.
- Report any safety discrepancies or incidents to the Store Manager immediately.
Stock Loss Management
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF 3 qualification with at least one year of relevant work experience; OR
- A Grade 12 qualification without prior work experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Jozini area.
- A valid South African ID or valid work permit.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The capacity to perform well under pressure.
