Job Description
As a General Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include providing comprehensive customer service, managing stock merchandising, ensuring accurate shelf pricing, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping within your designated areas.
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
- Advise and assist customers with product selection and inquiries.
- Effectively handle and resolve customer complaints.
Merchandising Standards
- Ensure bulk stock areas are merchandised safely and in line with the Store layout plan.
- Maintain your area of responsibility, ensuring it is fully merchandised according to Store layout and planograms.
Housekeeping
- Keep your designated area clear of obstructions, ensuring stock is merchandised promptly after receipt.
- Guarantee aisles are accessible and safe for customers.
- Maintain accurate shelf price labelling within your area.
- Complete required checklists and schedules, including Canteen and Toilet/Showers.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Adhere to all Safety (OHSA) regulations, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and staff within your area.
- Ensure racking and bulk stock areas are merchandised safely to allow colleagues and customers to move freely within the store.
- Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager.
Stock Loss Management
- Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of relevant work experience, OR Grade 12 without prior work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Queenstown area.
- Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Capability to work effectively under pressure.
