We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused General Assistant to join the Cashbuild team in Cape Town. Key Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be on ensuring a positive customer experience within the store. This includes:
- Customer Service: Providing comprehensive customer service, advising and assisting customers with product selection and queries. You will also be responsible for resolving customer complaints effectively.
- Merchandising Standards: Maintaining the merchandising of stock, ensuring accurate shelf price labelling, and upholding housekeeping standards within your designated area of responsibility. This involves ensuring your area is fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms, and that the bulk stock area is organised safely.
- Housekeeping: Ensuring your assigned area is kept clean and free of obstacles. Stock should be merchandised promptly after receipt, allowing customers easy and safe access to aisles.
- Safety (OHSA) Requirements: Adhering to all safety regulations, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of both customers and staff. Stock within your area, including racking and bulk storage, must be merchandised in a way that allows safe movement for customers and colleagues. You are also expected to report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Stock Management: Reporting any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of Grade 10 or NQF 3 with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR a Grade 12 qualification without prior related work experience.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area of the store.
- A valid South African ID or valid work permit.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- A willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- The ability to perform well under pressure.
