Job Description
As a Counter Sales professional, you will be instrumental in assisting customers with their product inquiries and purchases, ensuring a seamless and positive shopping experience. Your key responsibilities will include processing sales transactions accurately and efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized sales counter and showroom, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure merchandise is adequately restocked.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately process customer order requests and sales transactions.
- Handle payments received and manage related banking processes.
- Provide reliable and prompt customer service, advising customers correctly on products and addressing any queries or complaints in a timely manner.
- Maintain product knowledge across all offered products and services.
- Assist in other departments as and when required.
- Ensure stock is packed away correctly into allocated bins and merchandised immediately after receipt.
- Keep sales counters free of stock and presentable at all times.
- Adhere to safety regulations (OHSA), including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of customers and employees.
- Report any suspicious behavior or individuals to management immediately.
- Ensure no product is loaded for a customer without proof of purchase or required documentation.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- A minimum of 1 year of sales experience in a hardware retail, wholesale, or similar environment.
- 1 year of carpentry experience would be considered an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Must be available within the area of responsibility.
