Logistics Engineer – DSV Vacancies
About the Role
The Logistics Engineer plays a critical role in designing, planning, and implementing innovative warehousing and production logistics solutions. This position supports company objectives by identifying, analyzing, and delivering robust, value-adding solutions for current and prospective customers, while optimizing warehouse operations and WMS systems.
Main Purpose of the Role
- Participate in WMS implementation and optimization projects, acting as the key link between operations, clients, and WMS vendors
- Design and improve warehouse processes, ensuring alignment with DSV policies and solutions strategy
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and system performance
- Contribute to sustainable and profitable business outcomes by delivering effective logistics solutions
Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) required
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline (advantageous)
Computer Skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency required
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite advantageous
- Key user of Warehouse Management Systems, preferably JDA Dispatcher (RedPrairie/Blue Yonder)
- Exposure to Microsoft Power Suite, databases, and Robotic Process Automation is a plus
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehousing
- Valid driver’s license and own transport, with the ability to travel locally and internationally
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong multi-tasking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge or interest in industrial engineering, production logistics, retail/FMCG warehousing, and business analysis
- Familiarity with CIP/Lean methodologies
- Understanding of warehouse best practices (e.g., WERC, SCOR)
- Experience in process gap analysis, system optimization, and WMS configuration
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in full WMS implementation projects, including:
- Warehouse process analysis and optimization
- Process gap identification and solutions design
- Implementation documentation creation
- WMS modification and interface design
- Data setup, build, and loading
- System, modification, and interface testing
- Business readiness testing
- Support current WMS instances and evaluate system performance
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across operational and system areas
- Provide technical expertise on warehouse management systems, including RedPrairie/Blue Yonder/JDA, to support solutions development, sales activities, and implementations
- Travel locally and internationally as required to support project delivery and client engagements
