Growth Credit Analyst
Job Summary
The Growth Credit Analyst is responsible for performing in-depth credit assessments, financial analysis, and risk evaluations on growth-focused client portfolios. The Growth Credit Analyst plays a critical role in supporting lending decisions by analysing financial statements, assessing credit risk, and ensuring that credit applications align with the Bank’s risk appetite and growth strategy.
Role Overview
As a Growth Credit Analyst, you will evaluate client creditworthiness, monitor portfolio performance, and provide risk insights that support sustainable lending decisions. You will work closely with relationship teams, credit specialists, and business stakeholders to structure credit solutions that balance growth opportunities with strong risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management and Monitoring
- Continuously monitor client performance for early risk indicators
- Conduct periodic credit reviews to identify changes in client financial health or operating conditions
- Ensure adherence to credit covenants and escalate deviations where necessary
- Manage and report operational risk boundary events in line with credit policy
- Identify high-risk clients and implement early warning and loss prevention measures
- Request updated financial statements and collateral valuations in line with policy requirements
Credit Assessment and Decision Support
- Perform detailed credit analysis and ensure compliance with internal credit policies
- Support credit application preparation and ensure quality submissions to sanctioning authorities
- Participate in deal forums to ensure appropriate structuring of credit solutions
- Contribute to credit decision-making by providing accurate financial interpretation and risk insights
- Manage referrals, exceptions, and credit-related escalations in a timely manner
Portfolio and Financial Management
- Compile credit reviews, amendments, and new credit applications
- Issue facility letters and manage facility renewals and expiries
- Capture and maintain accurate data in credit risk grading models
- Ensure proper application of credit risk scoring tools and models
- Contribute to non-interest income through efficient fee recovery processes
- Analyse financial statements using internal credit risk models and ensure data integrity
Client Insight and Business Support
- Identify cross-sell opportunities based on financial analysis and client behaviour
- Support relationship teams with credit insights and risk guidance
- Conduct industry research to understand market trends and client positioning
- Provide input into sales strategies and monitor credit-related deal progress
Team Collaboration and Development
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to service and process improvements
- Build strong working relationships across credit, risk, and business teams
- Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on regulatory and policy changes
- Support knowledge sharing and contribute to team capability development
- Demonstrate alignment with organisational values and performance standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, Management Studies, or Credit Risk
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in credit risk or credit analysis
Skills and Competencies
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
- Strong understanding of credit risk principles and banking products
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling tools
- Strong communication, writing, and reporting skills
- Ability to interpret complex financial statements and risk data
- Strong commercial and entrepreneurial thinking
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Agricultural credit analysis experience is an advantage
