Value Logistics Vacancies – Forklift Technician
The Forklift Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, stripping, assembling, and maintaining forklift vehicles and components. The role ensures all equipment is serviced to OEM standards while maintaining high levels of safety, quality, and operational efficiency within the workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Diagnostics
- Inspect forklifts and related equipment for defects before commencing repairs
- Compile technical reports outlining repair requirements
- Identify and record spare parts needed for repairs
- Diagnose system failures and discuss findings with the team leader and workshop foreman
- Record all findings and repair details accurately on job cards
Repair and Maintenance Work
- Strip down forklift components for repair and assessment
- Clean and inspect parts for wear, damage, and usability
- Assemble components using a combination of new and serviceable parts
- Service and repair forklifts in line with OEM specifications and maintenance schedules
- Ensure all tasks, parts used, and time spent are accurately recorded on job cards
Operational Support and Productivity
- Maintain required productivity and efficiency standards
- Assist with standby and after-hours breakdown support when required
- Monitor, guide, and support repair assistants and semi-skilled team members
- Report unsafe equipment or working conditions to supervisors immediately
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures at all times
Workplace Standards and Compliance
- Maintain professional conduct in all work activities
- Ensure compliance with company dress code and PPE requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Follow all Health and Safety regulations and procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Red Seal Qualification as a Forklift Technician or related trade
- 2+ years’ relevant experience is advantageous
Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical and mechanical repair skills
- Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment faults accurately
- Good understanding of OEM service standards and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Commitment to safety, quality, and productivity standards
