Value Logistics Vacancies – Boilermaker
The Boilermaker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components for truck bodies with a strong focus on precision, quality, and safety. This role also involves equipment maintenance, accurate documentation, and collaboration with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
Metal Fabrication and Welding
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components with high accuracy
- Operate fabrication tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and shears efficiently
- Apply appropriate welding techniques to achieve precise and durable results
- Stay updated with modern welding and fabrication technologies
- Select suitable materials based on project requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
- Measure and mark materials accurately to ensure proper fit and alignment
- Perform repairs on damaged truck body components and carry out routine maintenance
Quality Control and Safety Compliance
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality and safety standards
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and guidelines
- Maintain and clean all fabrication and welding equipment regularly
- Identify and resolve issues during the fabrication process
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with team members to coordinate daily tasks
- Collaborate with supervisors and managers to maintain high-quality output
- Complete assigned tasks within project deadlines
- Keep accurate records of work performed, including materials used and time spent
Panel Shop Operations
- Review job cards or quotations to determine required tasks
- Inspect vehicles and confirm required parts based on job specifications
- Identify and report any additional damage
- Order necessary parts and follow up to ensure timely availability
- Verify that all received parts are correct and undamaged
- Ensure parts requiring painting are sent to the paint shop with the vehicle
- Strip and reassemble vehicle components as required
- Ensure correct alignment and fitment of all panels and parts
- Conduct final inspections to ensure high-quality workmanship
- Perform a final physical check to confirm the vehicle is roadworthy
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Red Seal Trade Certificate as a Boilermaker
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant workshop experience
Skills and Competencies
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and high-quality results
- High level of safety awareness and compliance with safety standards
- Proficiency in cutting, shaping, and welding metal components
- Skilled in the use of fabrication tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and shears
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
