About the Role:
The Tyre Maintenance Controller is responsible for performing routine tyre maintenance, handling tyre breakdowns, and conducting tyre surveys across the Value fleet of vehicles. This role ensures vehicle safety, optimizes tyre performance, and maintains accurate records of all tyre-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Stock Management
- Ensure tyre stock is securely stored at all times
- Assist in investigating and reporting discrepancies daily
- Support monthly cycle counts
Tyre Surveys
- Conduct site visits as required
- Prioritize vehicle tyre surveys and maintenance based on fleet list
- Complete daily tyre surveys using the Intersect tyre management system or manual documentation if offline
- Record accurate tyre information including brand numbers, wheel positions, tyre pressure, and tread depth
- Maintain correct tyre pressures and survey all vehicles monthly
- Inspect spare wheels, report missing spares, and mark rims with red paint for easy identification
- Ensure wheel nuts are torqued correctly and wheel nut indicators fitted
- Take photos of scrap tyres and submit to supervisor
- Communicate daily productivity, tyre issues, and outstanding surveys with supervisor
Tyre Branding
- Report tyres without brand numbers
- Brand tyres according to provided listings
Tyre Replacement & Rotations
- Identify and replace worn, punctured, or damaged tyres following SOP
- Ensure tyre change slips are accurately completed and submitted daily
- Rotate tyres according to tread matching requirements
Breakdowns
- Prepare breakdown support vehicle with correct tyres
- Attend to tyre-related breakdowns promptly and safely
- Complete breakdown reports and tyre change slips
- Return damaged or punctured tyres to depot and submit to supervisor
Company Equipment & Assets
- Secure maintenance tablets and vehicle keys after each shift
- Conduct and submit daily vehicle checklists
- Report any vehicle accidents or damages
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained, reporting defects to supervisor
- Submit weekly tyre bay tool checklists
Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and company vehicle
Health & Safety
- Comply with all health and safety regulations
- Use appropriate PPE at all times
- Report health and safety issues or near misses immediately
General Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including SOPs, HR, POPIA, dress code, attendance, and smoking regulations
- Assist with other company requirements as needed
- Weekend work may be required occasionally
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Code B driver’s license
- 1–2 years of heavy-duty tyre experience
- Physically able to lift heavy objects
