Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a General Assistant in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, South Africa. This role is crucial for ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining store standards.
Job Description
As a General Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive customer service, ensuring stock is accurately merchandised and priced, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping within your designated area. Your role will directly contribute to a positive shopping experience for our customers and the efficient operation of the store.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Advise and assist customers with product selection and inquiries, and effectively resolve customer complaints.
- Merchandising Standards: Ensure bulk stock areas are merchandised safely and according to the store layout plan. Maintain your area of responsibility, ensuring it is fully merchandised in line with store layout and planograms.
- Housekeeping: Keep your assigned area free of obstacles, ensuring stock is merchandised promptly after receipt and that aisles are clear and safe for customer access. Maintain accurate shelf price labelling. Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules when on duty.
- Safety (OHSA) Requirements: Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of both customers and staff within your area. Merchandise stock safely in racking and bulk storage areas to allow colleagues and customers to move safely within the store. Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Stock Loss Management: Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 qualification with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR a Grade 12 qualification without prior related work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Phalaborwa area.
- Possession of a valid South African ID or work permit.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
