About the Role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated Casual Cashier to support point-of-sale operations and deliver a high-quality shopping experience. The role focuses on accurately processing customer transactions, maintaining strict cash handling standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies to minimise errors and prevent fraud.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Sound numerical skills
- Strong command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all customer service policies and procedures
- Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
- Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to management
- Maintain required transaction turnaround times
- Stay informed about current promotions and sales
- Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
- Apply company communication standards consistently
- Manage and control cash flow responsibly
- Ensure all voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor
- Process exchanges and returns in accordance with company procedures
- Accurately handle all payment methods including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Process loyalty programmes and partner rewards transactions
- Secure cash in drop safe according to standard operating procedures
- Safeguard login credentials and ensure system security
- Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the store
- Maintain confidentiality when handling daily takings
- Identify and report suspicious behaviour
- Assist customers with product-related queries
- Comply with all security policies and procedures
