Cashbuild is seeking a motivated and driven individual to join our team as a Trainee Manager. The Trainee Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Store Manager to protect and grow profitable market share, aligning with the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager across various critical areas:
Strategic Management:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of a Store Business Plan that aligns with the overall Company strategy.
Market Share Growth & Protection:
- Support efforts to achieve market share growth and sales targets within the store by category.
- Promote customer loyalty programs and manage the distribution of advertising materials.
- Develop proactive action plans to protect market share against competitor activities.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Assist in implementing and monitoring customer service strategies to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
- Support reliable and prompt customer delivery services and grow the VIC client base.
- Recommend range improvements based on market needs and act on customer survey feedback.
Asset Control (Stock):
- Assist in managing and controlling store shrinkage and stock movement.
- Support the management of the PIC process and wall-to-wall stock takes.
- Oversee end-of-line control, inter-branch transfers (IBTs), customer returns, and receiving processes.
- Analyze security requirements and implement necessary changes to maintain physical security.
Asset Control (Cash):
- Assist in managing debtors, returned cheques, petty cash, daily banking, and shorts/overs.
- Support the management of cheque and credit card transactions.
Asset Control (Fixed Assets):
- Assist in the maintenance and protection of racking, displays, signage, forklifts, generators, IT equipment, telephone systems, and the store safe.
Human Resource Management:
- Support the recruitment, induction, training, and development of store employees.
- Assist with succession planning and career pathing within the store.
- Manage manpower requirements in line with company benchmarks and strategy.
- Facilitate open communication with the Store Employee Committee and manage employee relations.
Store Safety & Trading Standards:
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety legislation (OHSA) and related regulations.
- Manage safety checklists, report incidents, and ensure all safety aspects are recorded.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, merchandising, planogram implementation, and yard/parking area management.
Profitability:
- Assist in achieving operating income budgets and managing the store according to financial models and benchmarks.
Company Standards (CB Way):
- Support adherence to company standards and internal audit benchmarks.
- Implement and maintain controls and disciplines, and action any necessary corrective plans.
Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification.
- A minimum of two (2) years of retail management experience is essential.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
- Strong accounting skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Proficient computer literacy (basic).
- Demonstrated strong leadership and administrative skills.
- Must own personal transport and a cell phone.
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to South Africa and/or neighbouring countries (OHSA).
- Strong Human Resources skills.
