Cashbuild is seeking a motivated and driven individual to join our team as a Trainee Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for retail and leadership to grow within a reputable organisation.
Role Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Store Manager in protecting and growing profitable market share within the store, aligning with both store-specific and company-wide strategies.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
You will work closely with the Store Manager across various critical areas, including:
- Strategic Management: Assisting in the development, implementation, and management of the Store Business Plan, ensuring it aligns with the overall company strategy.
- Market Share Growth and Protection: Supporting efforts to achieve market share growth targets, sales budgets, and category objectives. This includes promoting customer loyalty programs, managing advertising material distribution, and proactively developing strategies to counter competitor market entry.
- Customer Service Excellence: Implementing and monitoring the customer service strategy, striving to maintain high customer audit scores, ensuring reliable delivery services, and growing the VIC client base. You will also be responsible for taking action on customer survey feedback.
- Asset Control (Stock): Assisting in managing and controlling shrinkage, overseeing the PIC process, conducting wall-to-wall stock takes, and managing stock movement within the store, including end controls, IBTs, customer returns, and receiving. This also involves analysing and implementing security measures and maintaining physical assets.
- Asset Control (Cash): Supporting the management of debtors and returned cheques, petty cash, daily banking, shorts and overs, and processing cheques and credit cards.
- Asset Control (Fixed Assets): Ensuring the maintenance and protection of racking, displays, signage, forklifts, generators, IT equipment, telephone systems, and the store safe.
- Human Resource Management: Assisting with the recruitment and induction of new employees, ensuring training and development initiatives are in place, supporting succession planning, managing manpower requirements, and fostering open communication and positive employee relations.
- Store Safety (OHSA) Standards: Managing safety aspects in line with legislation, ensuring checklist completion, appointing safety representatives, and accurately recording all incidents.
- Store Trading Standards: Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, merchandising, implementing planograms, and ensuring the upkeep of yard and parking areas.
- Profitability: Contributing to achieving the operating income budget and managing store operations in accordance with the financial model, benchmarks, and budgets.
- CB Way Compliance: Ensuring adherence to company standards and implementing controls and disciplines through internal audits, and executing corrective action plans as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification.
- A minimum of two years of retail management experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
- Strong accounting skills.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Strong leadership and administrative skills.
- Must have own reliable transport and a cell phone.
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety legislation (OHSA) and/or neighbouring countries’ legislation.
- Proficient Human Resources skills.
