Cashbuild is seeking a diligent and customer-focused Cashier to join our team in Marapyane, Mpumalanga. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring customer satisfaction and preventing any stock from leaving the premises without proper payment. This role is crucial to maintaining operational efficiency and upholding our commitment to excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Handling
- Accurately manage all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, ensuring balances are correct (no shorts or overs).
- Properly identify and capture all goods on the Point of Sale (POS) terminal.
- Capture the correct payment types received from customers on the POS terminal.
- Maintain sufficient change throughout your shift.
- Execute pick-ups accurately and within set parameters.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups accurately.
- Ensure all daily takings are securely dropped into the designated safe or vault.
- Process all transactions relating to other store monies, deliveries, and quotes correctly.
Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation relevant to the Cashier function.
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code.
Safety & Security
- Ensure compliance with Safety (OHSA) regulations, including customer and staff safety within your area of responsibility.
- Report any discrepancies immediately to the Store Manager.
- Adhere to security protocols, such as system password control at the till point.
- Ensure the safe keeping of cash and its transport to the cash office as per Cashbuild requirements.
Operational Adherence
- Comply with “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” standards as per the CB Way.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the Marapyane area.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administration skills are essential.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, is required.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
