Shop Assistant
We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Shop Assistant to support the daily operations of a busy retail store. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, assisting with sales transactions, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring the store remains clean, organized, and welcoming. A valid driver’s licence is essential, as the role may include occasional deliveries and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service at all times.
- Assist customers with product enquiries and purchasing decisions.
- Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Replenish shelves and maintain attractive product displays.
- Receive, unpack, label, and organize incoming stock deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels and report low-stock items or discrepancies.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.
- Handle customer queries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.
- Assist with daily opening and closing procedures.
- Conduct local deliveries, collections, and other driving-related duties when required.
- Support stock-taking activities and inventory management processes.
- Assist with general retail and operational tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Previous experience as a Shop Assistant, Retail Assistant, or in a customer service environment is advantageous.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to operate point-of-sale systems.
- Good numerical skills and experience handling cash transactions.
- Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
