We are seeking a diligent and customer-focused individual to join Cashbuild as a System Sup, overseeing Point of Sale (POS) transactions and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. This role is pivotal in managing all cash office and banking processes, along with essential POS administrative functions. Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service Excellence:
    • Ensure all speed point transactions (credit and debit card) are processed efficiently and accurately.
    • Proactively assist customers with their needs through clear and effective communication.
    • Address customer requests, queries, and complaints, resolving them or escalating to management as appropriate.
    • Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers.
    • Monitor and control the availability of store stationary and consumables.
  • Cash Handling and Banking Management:
    • Oversee and control store floats, including petty cash, till floats, and change floats.
    • Manage change ordering and dispensing.
    • Balance and accurately record petty cash expenses and vouchers in the ledger.
    • Process back-office transactions and cash up cashiers and the back-office till (including bulk deposits, special deposits, charge cards, loyalty cards, and returns).
    • Verify the validity and accuracy of all returns processed.
    • Action cash clearance and resolve any related queries promptly.
    • Ensure timely cash pick-ups are actioned.
    • Perform end-of-day procedures on all POS terminals.
    • Conduct daily cash-ups for all POS terminals, including the back-office terminal.
    • Ensure a second designated Cashbuild employee is present during Cash-In-Transit (CIT) money collections.
    • Facilitate daily takings collection by the Cash-In-Transit (CIT) Company.
  • Operational Readiness:
    • Implement and ensure “Ready for Business” processes are followed.
    • Ensure cashiers maintain their designated areas of responsibility.
    • Maintain a neat and tidy cash office at all times.
    • Ensure only cash office-related documentation is kept within the cash office, filed neatly, and kept up-to-date.
  • Team Leadership and Performance:
    • Ensure all cashiers are present and available to assist customers and perform their duties.
    • Confirm that cashiers have trained backups available.
    • Oversee the execution of daily duties by cashiers, utilizing checklists (Ready for Business and Beyond My Control).
    • Schedule subordinates in a timely manner.
    • Take responsibility for conducting product knowledge training for cashiers, as agreed with the Store Manager.
    • Schedule and supervise all POS employees, managing leave, time off, and day off requests.
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of subordinates.
    • Ensure all cashiers comply with the company dress code.
  • Safety and Security:
    • Ensure adherence to all safety standards (OHSA).
    • Maintain awareness of suspicious individuals and activities within and outside the store.
    • Uphold password security protocols.
    • Secure the cash office at all times.
    • Ensure the cash office door is locked during pick-ups, cash-ups, and CIT collections.
    • Execute till pick-ups within set parameters.
    • Restrict unauthorized persons from entering the cash office.
    • Ensure safe keys are securely locked away and under safe custody.
    • Prevent the storage of rations, stock, or unrelated documentation within the cash office.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience, or at least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in communicating in English and the dominant local language of the area where the position is based.
  • Above-average numeric skills.
  • Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Previous cashier experience is required.
