Value Logistics Vacancies – Tyre Maintenance Controller
The Tyre Maintenance Controller is responsible for conducting routine tyre maintenance, breakdown support, and tyre inspections across fleet vehicles. This role ensures optimal tyre performance, accurate reporting, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Control
- Ensure tyre stock is secured and properly stored at all times
- Assist with daily discrepancy investigations and reporting
- Support monthly cycle counts to maintain stock accuracy
Tyre Surveys and Inspections
- Travel to various sites to perform tyre inspections and maintenance
- Prioritise tasks based on fleet schedules provided by the supervisor
- Conduct daily tyre surveys using tyre management systems or manual records when necessary
- Capture accurate data including tyre brand numbers, wheel positions, pressure levels, and tread depth
- Ensure all fleet vehicles and spare wheels are inspected monthly
- Maintain correct tyre pressure and report missing spare wheels
- Mark spare wheel rims for easy identification
- Check and secure wheel nuts and fit indicators where required
- Document and report tyre conditions, including scrap tyres with supporting images
- Provide daily updates to the supervisor on completed surveys and outstanding tasks
Tyre Branding and Replacement
- Identify tyres without branding and report accordingly
- Apply tyre branding as required
- Replace worn, damaged, or punctured tyres in line with procedures
- Accurately complete and submit tyre change documentation daily
Tyre Rotation
- Perform tyre rotations according to tread matching requirements
- Ensure all related documentation is completed and submitted on time
Breakdown Support
- Prepare breakdown vehicles with the correct tyres and tools
- Respond promptly to tyre-related breakdowns at various locations
- Handle breakdown situations with urgency while following driving and safety regulations
- Complete all required reports and documentation for tyres replaced or removed
- Return damaged tyres to the depot and hand over documentation to the supervisor
Company Equipment and Asset Management
- Secure all company equipment, including tablets and tools, when not in use
- Complete and submit daily vehicle checklists
- Ensure vehicles are properly parked, locked, and keys safely stored after use
- Report any vehicle accidents or damages immediately
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Submit weekly tool inspection reports and report faulty equipment
Housekeeping and Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and company vehicle
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
- Report safety hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately
General Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including SOPs, HR policies, and dress code
- Support additional operational requirements as needed
- Be available to work weekends when required
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Valid Code B driver’s license
- 1–2 years’ experience working with heavy-duty tyres
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment
