Value Logistics Vacancies – Workshop Manager
The Workshop Manager is responsible for driving workshop performance by maximising service quality, operational efficiency, sales, and profitability. This role ensures optimal productivity, effective resource utilisation, and high levels of customer satisfaction across all workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management
- Manage staff attendance, productivity, and overall performance
- Supervise, coach, and develop team members to maintain a customer-focused environment
- Ensure compliance with dress code and PPE requirements at all times
- Identify training needs and support ongoing staff development
- Conduct performance reviews and appraisals
- Hold regular team meetings and provide continuous feedback
Workshop Operations and WIP Management
- Manage daily Work in Progress (WIP) planning and scheduling
- Monitor workshop productivity, efficiency, and workflow performance
- Coordinate closely with Service Advisors and Parts Department to ensure parts availability
- Ensure all vehicles are serviced according to OEM schedules and requirements
- Ensure smooth workshop operations and optimal utilisation of resources
Customer Service Management
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external customers regarding vehicle progress
- Ensure customer queries and complaints are resolved promptly and professionally
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction at all times
Workshop Administration
- Ensure accurate data capture on the system, including job cards, hours, fault codes, and job details
- Enforce compliance with all administrative SOPs
- Ensure accurate costing, processing, and closing of job cards
- Verify that all supporting documentation is correctly attached to job cards
- Oversee submission of job cards to filing systems as per procedure
- Ensure quotations for outsourced and external work are obtained and processed timeously
- Authorise and sign off job cards in line with company procedures
- Ensure proper recovery billing and invoicing to external customers
Reporting and Control
- Review daily open job card reports and ensure only valid WIP remains open
- Investigate and report on WIP status to management
- Monitor purchase order reports and ensure proper closure of all orders
- Submit all required operational reports within agreed timelines
Asset Management
- Manage and maintain all workshop assets effectively
- Report any loss or damage of assets to management immediately
- Ensure asset disposal follows approved SOP and authority levels
Financial and Budget Control
- Manage workshop operations within approved budgets
- Ensure cost-effective operations and financial efficiency
- Report on profit and loss performance as required
Quality and Standards
- Ensure availability and proper use of tools and equipment
- Conduct regular quality and compliance checks to maintain service standards
Apprentice Programme Management
- Oversee and manage the national apprentice development programme
General Responsibilities
- Maintain professional conduct at all times
- Support operational requirements as needed
- Ensure compliance with dress code and company SOPs
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards daily
- Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety regulations
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Workshop or Field Service Management
- Diesel Mechanic qualification is advantageous
