An exciting opportunity is available for a dedicated and detail-oriented Storeman (Halaal) to join a dynamic food service and hospitality operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the storage, handling, receiving, issuing, and control of halaal products while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, halaal standards, inventory procedures, and company policies.

As a Storeman (Halaal), you will play a vital role in maintaining stock accuracy, ensuring product quality, supporting operational efficiency, and safeguarding inventory within storerooms, refrigerators, and freezer facilities. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of food handling and stock control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and process incoming halaal food products, groceries, and related supplies.
  • Verify that all deliveries correspond with approved purchase orders, invoices, and delivery documentation.
  • Ensure that product quantities, pricing, and specifications match procurement records before accepting deliveries.
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding deliveries, shortages, damaged goods, and stock discrepancies.
  • Organize, label, and store inventory according to halaal guidelines, food safety standards, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure inventory is properly managed within designated storage areas.
  • Issue stock, groceries, and food products to production teams and other operational departments as required.
  • Weigh and record food products issued for meal preparation and production purposes.
  • Monitor stock levels and maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels in line with operational requirements and budgetary targets.
  • Assist with weekly, monthly, and periodic stock counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate stock variances and assist in implementing corrective measures where necessary.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on food products to ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure all goods entering storage areas are inspected for quality, expiry dates, packaging condition, and correct labeling.
  • Monitor product shelf life and rotate stock using first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization within all storerooms, refrigeration units, and freezer facilities.
  • Ensure storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers remain secure, locked when required, and accessible only to authorized personnel.
  • Implement strict stock control procedures to minimize losses, wastage, spoilage, and unauthorized access.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly packed away and secured following each meal service period.
  • Complete health, safety, environmental, and inventory records accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Support the implementation of food safety procedures and workplace compliance initiatives.
  • Work closely with catering management and supervisory teams to ensure operational requirements are met efficiently.
  • Assist with inventory planning and procurement processes to support uninterrupted food service operations.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance reviews as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory control, food safety, and operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
  • Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, Hospitality, or a related field will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a stores, warehouse, inventory, catering, hospitality, or food service environment.
  • Experience working with food products, groceries, or hospitality inventory will be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a halaal-compliant environment will be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence will be beneficial.
  • Experience using inventory management systems or stock control software will be an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of food safety regulations and stock management principles.
