Supervisor (Underground Mining)
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Supervisor (Underground Mining) to oversee underground maintenance and construction activities within a mining environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with mining regulations, maintaining high safety standards, and delivering projects efficiently and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise underground maintenance, repair, and construction activities.
- Coordinate and manage teams of boilermakers, riggers, welders, assistants, and other technical personnel.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to operational schedules.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and daily work planning sessions.
- Enforce compliance with underground mining safety regulations, company policies, and site procedures.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and engineering specifications are met.
- Monitor workforce productivity and operational performance.
- Liaise with mine management, engineering teams, and safety personnel to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and accountability of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify operational risks and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Prepare and submit daily progress reports, safety reports, and operational updates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Requirements
- Relevant trade qualification, with Boilermaker qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underground mining operations.
- Proven supervisory experience within an underground mining environment.
- Valid Red Ticket or Medical Fitness Certificate for underground mining work.
- Strong understanding of underground mining practices, maintenance activities, and construction operations.
- Knowledge of mining regulations, safety standards, and risk management procedures.
- Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams in challenging underground environments.
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
Mandatory Certifications
- Valid Working at Heights Certificate.
- Valid Confined Space Certificate.
- Valid Power Tools Training Certificate.
