Job Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing and controlling the end-to-end picking function and inventory processes within the warehouse. This role oversees a team of permanent and outsourced pickers, ensuring accurate, timely order fulfillment while maintaining high standards of productivity, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Operations

  • Supervise, guide, and support warehouse pickers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain a disciplined and efficient working environment.
  • Conduct daily check-ins to monitor progress, productivity, and challenges.
  • Ensure all picking activities follow established processes and warehouse standards.
  • Verify system-driven picking and correct stock selection from designated locations.
  • Perform random accuracy checks to maintain high picking standards.
  • Ensure productivity targets are consistently achieved.
  • Collaborate with warehouse planners to align picking with dispatch schedules.
  • Ensure timely completion of picking to prevent delays and additional costs.
  • Monitor equipment such as pallet jacks and scanners to ensure proper functionality.
  • Ensure all administrative processes within the picking area are followed correctly.
  • Provide daily reports on productivity, accuracy, and operational challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of staff performance and process compliance.

Warehouse Supervision

  • Lead, train, and motivate the picking team.
  • Enforce company policies, health and safety regulations, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and toolbox talks to drive continuous improvement.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare daily and weekly reports on productivity, accuracy, and inventory performance.
  • Track key performance indicators including order accuracy and picking timelines.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal and external audit requirements.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Promote a safe working environment through compliance and awareness.

Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse environment.
  • Ensure all aisles, picking areas, and storage zones are free of obstructions.
  • Enforce housekeeping schedules and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor proper disposal of waste and packaging materials.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address risks.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and PPE are properly stored and maintained.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in warehouse picking operations.
  • Previous supervisory or team leader experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems and inventory control practices.
  • Good numerical and literacy abilities.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Process-driven mindset with attention to detail.
