Value Logistics Vacancies – Inventory Controller
The Inventory Controller is responsible for managing and executing inventory processes to ensure accurate stock levels, effective reporting, and compliance with operational procedures and customer requirements at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties
- Follow and apply all Standard Operating Procedures related to inventory management and control
- Utilize business systems effectively to manage inventory processes
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to ensure long-term resolution
- Raise and complete NCRs, NCPs, and IOs as required during inventory processes
- Ensure stock is accurately recorded and managed, minimizing claims and damages
Storage Management
- Consolidate pallets in replenishment areas to optimize space utilization
- Conduct regular spot checks on bin locations to ensure stock accuracy
- Handle products carefully to maintain quality and prevent damage
- Apply correct units of measure in all inventory activities
- Ensure alignment between physical stock and system records (product, location, and quantity)
- Monitor and report on obsolete, expired, and slow-moving stock
Master Data and WMS
- Maintain accurate product master data to support correct inventory levels
- Ensure product information is accurately captured during receiving processes
- Effectively use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to support inventory operations
Stock Control Activities
- Perform book-to-book reconciliations as scheduled and resolve all variances promptly
- Conduct daily cycle counts to maintain high inventory accuracy and reduce losses
- Perform daily empty bin checks
- Prepare and execute stock takes in line with company and customer requirements
- Report stock take and cycle count results, ensuring discrepancies are addressed quickly
- Maintain organized and accessible inventory records for audits and reviews
Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports to management
- Monitor and report on inventory KPIs, identifying and investigating any deviations
- Analyze stock variances and recommend corrective actions
- Evaluate reports to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Warehouse Management, or Business Management is advantageous
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a logistics or warehouse environment with strong inventory knowledge
Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
