Cashbuild is seeking a diligent and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Cashier at our KwaDesi store in the Eastern Cape. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless customer transactions and maintaining a high level of service.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Transaction Management: Accurately processing all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring all goods are paid for before leaving the store. This includes handling cash, capturing payments correctly, and managing floats and petty cash with precision.
• Cash Handling: Ensuring all allocated cash balances perfectly, with no shorts or overs. You will also be responsible for preparing change, executing pick-ups within set parameters, and accurately completing cash-ups at the end of each shift. All daily takings must be securely deposited into the drop safe or vault.
• Sales Processing: Correctly identifying and capturing goods on the POS terminal and processing all transactions related to other store monies, deliveries, and quotes.
• Administration: Signing, compiling, and filing all necessary documentation related to your cashier functions.
• Customer Service: Providing fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout. This includes directing customers to appropriate assistance and adhering to the company’s dress code.
• Operational Adherence: Complying with “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards as per the Cashbuild Way.
• Safety and Security: Ensuring compliance with Safety (OHSA) requirements, including customer and staff safety within your area of responsibility. You will report any discrepancies to the Store Manager. Maintaining security awareness, such as adhering to system password controls at the till point, and ensuring cash is kept safe and transported to the cash office according to Cashbuild Way requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant language spoken in the KwaDesi area.
• Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
• Strong administration skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The ability to perform effectively under pressure.
