Responsibilities
Strategic Management
- Assist the Store Manager in developing, implementing, and managing a Store Business Plan, ensuring alignment with the overall Company strategy and approved strategic initiatives.
Grow and Protect Market Share
- Support the Store Manager in achieving market share growth as defined in the strategy plan.
- Contribute to achieving sales budgets and growth objectives by Category.
- Promote customer loyalty programs (e.g., VIC, charge cards).
- Assist in managing the distribution of advertising material for maximum efficiency.
- Develop proactive action plans to protect market share when competitors enter the market.
Customer Service
- Aid in the implementation and monitoring of the Customer Service strategy.
- Help maintain Customer Audits above 95%.
- Support a reliable and prompt Customer Delivery Service.
- Assist in growing and maintaining the VIC client base.
- Contribute to achieving Transaction budgets.
- Recommend range improvements to suit the market.
- Take action on Customer Surveys, implementing action plans as required.
Asset Control: Stock
- Assist the Store Manager in managing and controlling shrinkage within the Store.
- Support the management of the PIC process, Wall-to-wall Stock takes, and stock movement within the store.
- Oversee End Control, IBT’s, Customer Returns, and Receiving processes.
- Assist in analyzing security requirements and implementing necessary changes.
- Help manage and maintain physical security measures.
Asset Control: Cash
- Support the Store Manager in managing Debtors and RD Cheques.
- Assist in the management of Petty Cash and daily Banking.
- Help monitor Shorts and Overs, as well as Cheques and Credit Cards.
Asset Control: Fixed Assets
- Contribute to the maintenance and protection of racking, displays, and signage (internal & external).
- Assist in the maintenance of forklifts and generators.
- Support the maintenance and protection of IT Equipment, Telephone systems, and the Safe.
Human Resource Management
- Assist the Store Manager in recruiting and inducting all employees.
- Ensure Training & Development initiatives are in place for the Store.
- Support Succession Planning & Career pathing within the Store.
- Help manage manpower requirements in line with Division and Store strategy, and Company benchmarks.
- Facilitate open communication and relations with the Store Employee Committee (e.g., CARE Meetings, CB Mail).
- Assist in managing Employee Relations.
Store Safety (OHSA) Standards
- Assist the Store Manager in managing safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighboring Countries legislation.
- Ensure Checklists are completed, Safety Representatives are appointed as per OHSA Act, and Incidents are reported.
- Assist in recording all incidents.
Store Trading Standards
- Support the Store Manager in maintaining Housekeeping and Merchandising standards.
- Aid in the implementation and maintenance of correct Planograms.
- Assist in maintaining Yard and Parking Areas.
Profitability
- Contribute to achieving the operating income budget.
- Assist the Store Manager in managing the Store according to the Financial Model, benchmarks, and budgets.
CB Way
- Support the Store Manager in achieving the Audit Benchmark by monitoring adherence to Company standard compliance in Store.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining controls and disciplines.
- Help implement Corrective Action Plans where necessary.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of two (2) years of retail management experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Valid South African ID or valid work permit (local).
- Strong accounting skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Computer literacy (basic proficiency).
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Own reliable transport and a cell phone are required.
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety aspects in line with local (OHSA) and/or neighboring Countries legislation.
