About the Role
As a Cashier, your primary responsibility will be the accurate and efficient handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions. This includes ensuring all sales are correctly processed and that no merchandise leaves the store without proper payment, ultimately contributing to high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
- Maintain the accuracy of all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, ensuring no discrepancies.
- Verify and accurately capture goods on the Point of Sale (POS) terminal.
- Process customer payments accurately according to the POS system.
- Ensure an adequate supply of change is available at all times.
- Perform pickups accurately and within established guidelines.
- Conduct end-of-shift cash-ups with precision.
- Deposit all daily takings into the secure drop safe or vault.
- Ensure correct processing of all transactions related to inter-store transfers, deliveries, and quotes.
Administration
- Compile, sign, and file all documentation associated with the Cashier function.
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers during checkout.
- Direct customers to the appropriate personnel for further assistance.
- Adhere to the company’s dress code.
Safety and Security
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA) regulations, prioritizing the safety of customers and staff within your area of responsibility.
- Report any discrepancies immediately to the Store Manager.
- Maintain system password control at the till point.
- Ensure secure handling and transport of cash to the cash office according to Cashbuild procedures.
Operational Standards
- Adhere to “Ready for Business” and “Beyond my Control” principles as outlined in the CB Way.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in both English and the dominant local language spoken in the Queenstown area.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administrative skills are essential.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
