Key Responsibilities and Duties
As a Forklift Driver, your primary duties will include:
- Operating and maintaining forklifts in a safe and cost-effective manner.
- Providing comprehensive customer service, assisting customers with product queries and complaints promptly.
- Driving add-on sales by suggesting complementary products.
- Ensuring efficient loading of customer purchases without delay, taking care not to damage goods or customer vehicles.
- Advising customers on additional services offered, such as delivery, glass cutting, credit programs, and special orders.
- Merchandising stock accurately according to store layout plans and planograms.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within your designated area, ensuring it is free of obstacles and safe for customers.
- Ensuring correct shelf price labelling.
- Adhering to “Ready for Business” principles.
- Identifying display gaps, investigating causes, and reporting concerns to management.
- Monitoring for suspicious behaviour and reporting any concerns.
- Verifying proof of purchase before loading products for customers.
- Strictly adhering to all safety (OHSA) requirements, including not overloading forklifts or racking, wearing safety gear, and never using the forklift to lift personnel.
- Reporting any forklift faults or upcoming service requirements immediately.
- Conducting daily forklift inspections and completing checklists.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this Forklift Driver position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language.
- Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Must be physically fit to operate a forklift.
- Possession of a valid forklift license.
- Certified in Product Knowledge.
- Must be available in your designated aisle of responsibility.
