The Lead Technology role is a senior engineering and architecture leadership position responsible for the design, delivery, optimization, and continuous evolution of enterprise-wide technology products and services. This role ensures that full stack engineering practices are effectively implemented, enabling scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient solutions that align with business strategy and architectural standards.
As a Lead Technology, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of technical solutions, from strategy definition through to deployment and ongoing optimization. The role combines deep technical expertise, agile delivery leadership, and enterprise architecture alignment to ensure high-quality technology outcomes across the organization.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Lead Technology role is to lead agile solution design and DevOps-driven delivery of technology products and services. This includes defining technical strategy, guiding architecture decisions, ensuring robust engineering practices, and delivering scalable solutions that support business growth and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy and Solution Design
- Collaborate with CIO and business product owners to define full stack technology strategy
- Act as the primary technical partner for business stakeholders and product owners
- Own end-to-end accountability for product and solution delivery
- Lead solution design using design thinking and architecture best practices
- Develop solution blueprints aligned to short, medium, and long-term business strategy
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and principles
Architecture and Engineering Leadership
- Guide technical design decisions across front-end, back-end, and integration layers
- Ensure solutions adhere to infrastructure standards including cloud, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models
- Promote scalable, reusable, testable, and resilient system design principles
- Provide technical leadership on coding standards, architecture patterns, and development practices
- Guide teams in advanced engineering concepts such as microservices, distributed systems, and asynchronous processing
DevOps and Continuous Delivery
- Lead DevOps strategy, ensuring fully automated pipelines for build, test, and deployment
- Implement CI/CD frameworks across engineering squads
- Oversee automation testing, integration, and deployment processes
- Manage DevOps tools and platforms including containerization and orchestration technologies
- Ensure efficient release management with minimal risk and maximum business value
Application Performance and Optimization
- Continuously monitor performance of enterprise applications and services
- Drive optimization initiatives to improve cost efficiency and system performance
- Ensure long-term sustainability and scalability of deployed solutions
- Manage application lifecycle from development through to maintenance and enhancement
Agile Delivery Leadership
- Lead Agile squads in delivering both run and change initiatives
- Ensure effective implementation of Agile practices including sprint planning, retrospectives, and reviews
- Manage prioritization, scoping, and integration planning across multiple teams
- Partner with transformation teams to support program-level delivery execution
- Ensure Agile practices are consistently applied and improved across teams
Stakeholder and Product Ownership
- Manage senior stakeholder relationships, including product owners and business leaders
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans
- Ensure clear communication of technical decisions and trade-offs
- Support decision-making through cost-to-value analysis and technical guidance
People Leadership and Capability Development
- Build and lead high-performing, diverse engineering teams
- Recruit, develop, and retain top technical talent
- Coach and mentor senior developers across multiple squads
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and technical excellence
- Align team capabilities with evolving technology strategy
Risk, Governance, and Compliance
- Own end-to-end technical risk across solution design and delivery
- Ensure compliance with organizational governance and security frameworks
- Manage vendor selection, contracts, and third-party technology relationships
- Ensure all technology decisions align with enterprise risk and architecture standards
- Deliver solutions that are secure, scalable, and compliant with regulatory requirements
Financial and Vendor Management
- Manage budgets and ensure delivery within agreed financial constraints
- Lead vendor negotiations and ensure optimal commercial outcomes
- Evaluate vendor solutions based on scalability, resilience, and value delivery
- Ensure cost-effective use of technology resources across the enterprise
Technical Expertise and Requirements
- Strong experience in full stack engineering and enterprise architecture
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms, containerization, and DevOps tools
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar
- Experience with CI/CD tools, automation frameworks, and observability platforms
- Strong knowledge of system design, distributed systems, and scalable architectures
- Proven experience in Agile delivery environments
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
