This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our fleet through comprehensive maintenance and repair services.
Job Purpose
To conduct all customer service work, from routine maintenance to complex repairs, strictly adhering to Value Logistics job card specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
- Perform thorough visual inspections and on-board diagnostics during pre-diagnosis assessments.
- Receive and meticulously review workshop job cards to ensure accuracy and complete understanding of tasks.
- Adhere to specified flat rates for all repair work.
- Respond promptly to both scheduled and unscheduled breakdowns during and outside of office hours.
- Ensure accurate sign-off on all completed job cards.
- Verify that all parts used in repairs are correctly booked against the respective job card, including consumables like engine oils.
- Prepare operating equipment and gather necessary parts for service bay operations.
- Execute all maintenance services in strict accordance with manufacturer specifications and the established maintenance schedule or computer system.
- Conduct all visual inspections, calibration tasks, and adjustments as required.
- Identify deviations, irregularities, and unusual wear and tear, initiating requests for additional parts and providing feedback to the Workshop Foreman.
- Reset maintenance systems according to internal processes and procedures.
- Prepare dismantled parts for return to suppliers, including those suitable for reconditioning.
- Inspect disassembled parts and replace them with new or reconditioned components.
- Document all work performed and return old or unusable parts.
- Compare the current state of a vehicle with standard production configurations to accurately assess its technical condition.
- Conduct final checks on repaired vehicles using testing and measuring equipment to confirm comprehensive repairs and roadworthiness.
- Maintain a high standard of professional conduct at all times.
- Provide assistance in relevant operational functions as needed.
- Ensure adherence to company Standard Operating Procedures regarding dress code.
- Maintain daily housekeeping standards within the work area.
- Uphold all Health and Safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Must be a trade-tested commercial vehicle Diesel Technician.
