Forklift Driver – Cashbuild – Holfontein, South Africa

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Forklift Driver to join our team in Holfontein. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our warehouse, contributing directly to exceptional customer service and maintaining our high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service Excellence:

• Proactively greet and assist customers, accurately identifying their needs and providing expert product advice.
• Address customer queries and resolve complaints promptly and professionally.
• Drive add-on sales by suggesting complementary products.
• Ensure purchases are loaded carefully and without delay, protecting both the goods and customer vehicles.
• Inform customers about additional services, including delivery, glass cutting, plan reading, credit programs, special orders, trusses, distant ordering, and the VIC Customer Programme.
• Maintain comprehensive product knowledge and be readily available on the sales floor.

Merchandising and Stock Management:

• Organise and merchandise stock in bulk storage areas and designated sales floor sections according to store layout plans and planograms.
• Ensure all areas of responsibility are fully merchandised.

Housekeeping and Presentation:

• Maintain a clean, obstacle-free work environment, ensuring stock is merchandised promptly upon receipt.
• Guarantee customer access to aisles without risk of injury or irritation.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date shelf price labelling within your area.
• Complete daily checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules.

Operational Safety (OHSA):

• Operate the forklift safely, avoiding overloading of the forklift and racking/shelving (e.g., no more than two pallets high for roof tiles/bricks/cement).
• Always wear the required safety helmet and kidney belt when operating the forklift.
• Never use the forklift to lift personnel.
• Ensure entrances and exits are clear of obstacles for safe customer access.
• Immediately report any forklift faults or when a service is due.
• Wear protective clothing as required.
• Do not operate the forklift if mechanical faults are present.
• Conduct daily forklift inspections, complete checklists, and report any findings.

Loss Prevention and Security:

• Identify display gaps, investigate causes, and report concerns to management.
• Remain vigilant for suspicious behaviour or individuals and report any suspicions.
• Verify proof of purchase or required documentation before loading any product for a customer.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or a minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in communicating in English and the dominant local language of the area.
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Capacity to perform effectively under pressure.
• Physically fit and able to operate a forklift.
• Possession of a valid forklift license.
