General Assistant – Cashbuild (Mahikeng, North West, South Africa)

Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a General Assistant in Mahikeng, North West, South Africa. This role is pivotal in ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers while maintaining store standards.

Responsibilities

As a General Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Customer Service: Providing comprehensive customer service, advising and assisting customers with product selection and inquiries, and effectively resolving customer complaints.
• Merchandising: Ensuring stock is merchandised safely and according to store layout plans, maintaining full merchandising in your area of responsibility as per store layout and planograms.
• Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean and organized work area, ensuring it is free of obstacles, stock is merchandised promptly after receipt, and aisles are safe for customer access.
• Stock Management: Reporting damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager and managing stock loss effectively.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to all Safety (OHSA) requirements, including the use of safety gear and ensuring the safety of both customers and staff within your designated area. This includes ensuring racking and bulk stock are merchandised safely for colleagues and customers to navigate the store.
• Record Keeping: Completing required checklists and schedules, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules when on duty.
• Pricing: Ensuring correct shelf price labelling within your area of responsibility.

Requirements

To be considered for this General Assistant position, you will need:

• A minimum of Grade 10 (NQF 3) with at least one year of relevant work experience, OR
• A Grade 12 certificate without prior work experience.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Mahikeng area.
• A valid South African ID or work permit.
• Proficiency in performing basic calculations accurately.
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure.
