General Assistant – Cashbuild (Piet Retief)
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join our team at Cashbuild as a General Assistant in Piet Retief, South Africa. This role is crucial in ensuring an exceptional customer experience and maintaining high store standards.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Provide comprehensive customer service, offering advice and assistance on product selection and addressing customer queries. Effectively resolve customer complaints.
- Merchandising Standards: Ensure the safe and efficient merchandising of stock in bulk storage areas, adhering to the store layout plan. Maintain designated areas of responsibility with full stock according to store layout and planograms.
- Housekeeping: Keep your assigned area free of obstructions, merchandise stock promptly upon receipt, and ensure safe and easy access for customers. Maintain accurate shelf price labelling within your area. Complete required checklists, including canteen and toilet/shower schedules, when on duty.
- Safety (OHSA) Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of safety gear, and ensure the safety of both customers and staff within your area. Stock must be merchandised safely in both racking and bulk areas to allow for safe movement of customers and colleagues. Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Stock Loss Management: Report any damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3, plus one year of relevant work experience.
- Alternatively, a Grade 12 certificate with no prior work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language spoken in the Piet Retief area.
- Possess a valid South African ID or a valid work permit.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure.
